About us
St. Theresa’s Convent is a prominent establishment under the Society of Jesus Mary Joseph (JMJ) in India, overseeing a wide array of activities. The management of St. Theresa’s Institutions falls under the St. Theresa’s Convent Society, based in Sanathnagar, Hyderabad.
St. Theresa’s Hospital inaugurated in 1972, began as an educational hub for Auxiliary Nurse & Midwifery (ANM) training. The visionary sisters aimed to elevate the ANM program to a full General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) course, eventually expanding into Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Nursing.
The hospital, with 385 beds, serves as the main affiliated medical center for JMJ College of Nursing and St. Theresa’s School of Nursing. It also conducts Diplomate of National Board (DNB) programs in specialties like Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Rev. Sr. Marianne Adayadil, the founder and the first principal of St. Theresa’s School and JMJ College of Nursing, was recognized nationally with the Florence Nightingale Award in 2008.
St. Theresa’s School established the same year as the hospital, offers education in both English and Telugu, catering to children from urban and semi-urban backgrounds, primarily serving middle to lower-middle-class families.
