The Ph.D. program at K.R. Mangalam University is research-intensive, allowing scholars to delve into their chosen fields under the mentorship of experienced supervisors or co-supervisors. The program's duration is flexible, depending on the completion of the research work. The research is expected to either discover new facts, propose new theories, or offer fresh interpretations of existing ones, demonstrating the scholar’s analytical, judgment, and investigative capabilities.
Upon admission, students are provisionally registered and must complete a minimum of 14 credits of mandatory coursework. After successfully completing the coursework, students will identify a supervisor/co-supervisor and, in consultation, develop a research proposal. This proposal must be approved before formal registration into the Ph.D. program, which should be completed within one year.
Scholars are required to submit progress reports each semester and present their work to the School Research Committee (SRC). The minimum duration for completing the dissertation is three years, with a maximum of six years. Women scholars and those with more than 40% disability are eligible for a two-year relaxation, following UGC norms.
Before submitting the final dissertation, scholars must have published at least one research paper in a refereed journal and made two conference presentations. The dissertation must be original, free from plagiarism, and undergo final evaluation. Scholars must defend their dissertation during the viva voce.
